Dr. Janeth Guzman, DMFT, MS, LMFT
I earned my doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University.
My name is Dr. Janeth Guzman, and I am deeply passionate about the mental health field. As a Latina born in the United States, my journey has been shaped by a profound love for helping people. My career began in nursing, where I witnessed firsthand how many physical health problems stemmed from emotional pain and unresolved wounds. This realization ignited my passion for mental health and led me to pursue a career as a psychotherapist.
I hold a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, and my professional focus is on working with children, teens, families, and couples. I have extensive experience in trauma therapy and am certified in Brainspotting, trained in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Work. Additionally, I am a Sandplay Therapist Associate. These diverse therapeutic approaches allow me to tailor my methods to each client's unique needs, providing a safe and healing space for them to navigate life's challenges.
My approach to therapy is collaborative and strength-based. I believe in empowering my clients by highlighting their strengths and working together to achieve their goals. My goal is to help families and couples build closer, more fulfilling relationships through therapeutic work. Whether addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues, I strive to create an environment where clients feel heard, valued, and supported.
In addition to my clinical work, I am an AAMFT approved clinical supervisor for Marriage and Family Therapists and a Clinical Fellow. Mentoring and guiding new therapists is a rewarding aspect of my career, and I am committed to fostering the next generation of mental health professionals.
Being bilingual in English and Spanish allows me to connect with a broader range of clients, offering therapy in a language that is comfortable for them. I understand the importance of cultural sensitivity and strive to provide culturally competent care to all my clients.
Outside of my professional life, I am a firm believer in the importance of self-care and balance. I enjoy music, traveling, and spending quality time with my family and pets. My love for animals has been a constant source of joy and comfort in my life. These personal interests help me stay grounded and bring a sense of fulfillment to my life, which I bring into my work with clients.
Every day, I am inspired by the resilience and strength of the individuals and families I work with. My journey has been shaped by a deep-seated belief that everyone deserves a safe and healing place to work through life's difficulties. It is an honor to walk alongside my clients on their path to recovery and growth. Through my work, I aim to make a positive impact on the lives of those I serve, helping them find hope, healing, and connection.
